These photographs were taken at a demonstration in downtown Detroit opposing the recent targeted assassinations in Iraq of Iranian Lt.Gen. Qasam Soleimani and a Deputy Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis of the Iraq Popular Mobilization Units (PMU). Anti-war activists rallied and spoke out against the military provocations by the administration of President Donald Trump. There also was a march around Campus Martius where people chanted slogans against the threat of another imperialist war for oil and geo-political dominance. The demonstration was called by the Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice (MECAWI) and was supported by many other social justice, left-wing and peace organizations. These protests took place in numerous cities across the U.S.
