On February 14, 2020, about 100 UNITE HERE Local 24 members and supporters joined Delta Airlines catering workers protesting poverty wages and unaffordable health care. The protest took place at the Delta Airlines terminal located at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport and was part of coordinated actions that took place at 15 other locations across the U.S. targeting American, United and Delta. At six locations, workers took arrests, including in Detroit.

“Over 38% of catering workers serving Delta at its hubs in Minneapolis and Detroit rely on government healthcare programs for themselves or their children,” according to a UNITE HERE press release. Another 36% are uninsured entirely.
