There was a lively celebration of International Women’s Day in Detroit on Saturday, March 7, 2020.
The feature film “Harriet” was shown on the life, times and monumental contributions of anti-slavery organizer, underground railroad conductor and Civil War intelligence operative for the Union army, Aminata Ross, better known as Harriet Tubman.
A dinner was served, prepared by men before the film. Afterwards an important discussion was held on the movie and its significance in today’s times. A pamphlet entitled “Slavery, Emancipation and Women’s Suffrage” published by Fighting-Words.net was distributed at the event.
The forum was sponsored by the Communist Workers League (CWL) and the other organizations housed at 5920 Second in Detroit.
