Another protest action took place on Tuesday,  July 20, 2021 demanding an increase in the minimum wage in the United States to $15 per hour and union representation.

This was part of a nationwide mobilization targeting McDonald’s corporation which is known to pay low wages to the majority of its workers.

In Detroit a march and rally was held outside a McDonald’s restaurant on Gratiot Avenue in the northeast side. The minimum wage has not been raised on a federal level in more than a decade.

Workers at the rally spoke on how they have toiled for many years while still earning inadequate salaries which do not cover their monthly expenses.

Various community organizations were present including the Southeast Michigan Jobs with Justice, One Fair Wage and Moratorium NOW! Coalition.
