Professor Ilan Pappe is currently the Director of the European Center for Palestine Studies at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.

He is an Israeli who has documented the ethnic cleansing of Palestine exposing the unjust character of the settler-colonial state.

Pappe addressed an audience at the First Unitarian Universalist Church located in the Midtown District of Detroit on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

In his address he reflected on the future prospects for developments in Palestine which currently is the focus of world attention due to the Israeli directed genocide taking place in Gaza.

Pappe noted that based upon the historical events which shaped the current situation in Palestine, it is inevitable that the people would continue to organize against their oppression. Today, with a combined intensity of the struggle waged by Palestinians and the international outcry over the continuing ethnic cleansing through mass murders, further dislocations and the destruction of infrastructure in Gaza, Pappe believes that this represents the beginning of the end for the Zionist state.

This event was one of three lectures delivered between May 13-15 in Dearborn, Detroit and Ferndale, Michigan. After the lecture Pappe signed copies of his books which were available at a reception held in another area of the church.
