People took to the streets in downtown Detroit on Sat. Oct. 5, 2024 in commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Storm and the genocide being waged against the people of Gaza in Palestine and neighboring Lebanon.

The event began with a rally and speak-out at the Joe Louis fist on Jefferson Avenue near the riverfront downtown.

Later the crowd took to the streets for a march through the central business district chanting slogans decrying the genocidal onslaught and demanding the end to the siege on Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and other states throughout the West Asia region.

This manifestation was part and parcel of demonstrations and rallies held throughout the world.

In Europe, Africa, Latin America, Asia and North America, people joined together to express their solidarity with the struggle for Palestinian liberation and the sovereignty of Lebanon and other regional states.

The United States is the major financier and military supporter of the State of Israel and its current campaign which has killed more than 42,000 people in Gaza, most of whom were women and children.

In Lebanon, over 2,000 have died due to the bombing of the country by the U.S.-armed israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).

Participants came from numerous organizations including the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), Detroit Will Breathe, Moratorium NOW! Coalition, Yemeni Liberation Movement, among many others.
