Before the Communist Transgender Warrior, Leslie Feinberg, there was Bob McCubbin with a historical materialist view of the LGBTQIA question. At the time of Comrade Bob’s first major work, The Gay Question, it was a wholly unique analysis from a Marxist-Leninist worldview. It has been a bedrock of serious communists such as Leslie Feinberg ever since and has inspired many worldwide including the Cuban people.
Bob was a Communist fighter standing with both his LGBTQIA community, the oppressed people’s and workers for decades. He never wavered in his internationalist communist duties supporting sovereign nations under attack by the U.S. (and other imperialist nations) from YAWF (Youth Against War and Fascism) to the Gay Liberation Front (inspired by the Vietnamese National Liberation Front) and other anti imperialist formations over the decades.
His lessons as an educator in every arena from his classrooms to the streets rooted in dialectical and historical materialism, will continue to reverberate internationally. We were honored to work and fight the murderous capitalists and imperialists along with Bob for decades. We will continue until we win the better world we need and deserve.
