Grand Circus Park in downtown Detroit was the center of a solidarity rally with the socialist society of Cuba and its people on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
The Caribbean island-nation has been under a United States imperialist blockade for sixty-five years.
In recent months, the administration of President Donald Trump has issued renewed threats against the country located just 90 miles off the coast of Florida.
An oil blockade imposed after the kidnapping of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela President Nicholas Maduro and First Lady Cicilia Flores has strangled the power system inside the socialist state.
This rally took place as several delegations are travelling to the Caribbean nation to break the blockade in solidarity with its socialist project.
Speakers at the rally included David Sole of the Moratorium NOW! Coalition, who travelled to Cuba in 1970 with the Second Venceremos Brigade to help harvest sugar.
Dr. Ismail Noor of the United States Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) drew the connections between the attacks by imperialism on Cuba with the current situation in Palestine, Lebanon and Iran.
The event was organized by the Michigan Action for Cuba Committee.
