These images were taken on Saturday, July 11, 2020 in downtown Detroit where two women-youth groups led demonstrations in support of the struggle to protect Black lives.

One gathering began at the Joe Louis fist on Jefferson Avenue where the women soon rode bicycles across downtown.

The second action was called specifically to demand justice for Breonna Taylor, killed by police in Louisville, Kentucky earlier in the year.

The rally and march highlighted the failure to charge the police in Taylor’s murder.

This manifestation began at the Hart Plaza Labor Monument with a rally. Later the crowd marched along the riverfront and eventually through other areas of downtown.
