Marking Two Years Since Nizar Banat’s Extra-Judicial Killing

June 25, 2023, Today marks the second anniversary of Nizar Banat’s extra-judicial killing, a tragic incident that demonstrates the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) repression and its security forces’ coordination with the Apartheid colonizing regime.

As a coalition of diverse Palestinians in the United States, human rights advocates, and legal professionals, we stand in solidarity with and demand justice for Nizar Banat and an end to the PA’s brutal regime of intimidation and violence.

Nizar Banat was a father, a carpenter, and an unwavering advocate for the liberation of Palestinians. His demands for accountability, transparency, and an end to collaboration with colonizing forces remain a beacon for our collective pursuit of justice. Despite the immense risks, his family continues his advocacy, supported by the Palestine-based National Committee for Justice for Nizar.

Two years after the Palestinian Security Services (PSS) and the Palestinian Protective Services (PPS) brutally ended Nizar Banat’s life under the PA’s command, the perpetrators remain unpunished. The PA’s ongoing protection of those responsible fosters a disturbing culture of impunity that cannot stand.

In honor of Nizar Banat’s memory and in pursuit of his vision for a free Palestine, our coalition demands:

1. That the PA promptly ensures a fair and public trial, supervised by an impartial judiciary, for all individuals who directly participated or sanctioned the violent assault and murder of Nizar Banat. The trial must be conducted in a manner that upholds the principles of transparency, independence, and basic legal rights.
2. End of international pressure on the PA, the PSS, and the PPS to coordinate with Israel, as it must be recognized that as the occupying power, and de-facto ruler in Palestine, Israel compels the PA, and its agencies, to act as agents to perpetuate Israeli occupation and human rights violations against Palestinians.
3. Immediate scheduling of free, fair, and inclusive elections for all Palestinians for the Palestinian National and Legislative Councils and the Presidential office.
4. Cessation of funding to the PPS until it complies with international standards of justice, transparency, and human rights compliance for Palestinians-  including the arrest and prosecution of all individuals involved in the murder of Nizar Banat.
5. Conditioning international funding to the PA and the PSS on compliance with international human rights law standards of  justice, transparency, and protection of Palestinians and their rights-  including the arrest and prosecution of all individuals involved in the murder of Nizar Banat; and
6. Global action against Israel for its ongoing illegal settlements, land confiscations, war crimes and human rights abuses against Palestinians.

We call on organizations and individuals around the world to join us in this pursuit of justice. Nizar Banat’s life may have been tragically cut short, but his spirit and the principles he stood for continue to inspire the fight for a free Palestine.

بعد مرور عامين  على اغتيال الشهيد نزار بنات صاحب الكلمة الحرة والموقف الشجاع

مطالبنا من أجل تحقيق  العدالة

يصادف في هذه الايام الأخيره من شهر حزيران  الذكرى الثانية لإغتيال الشهيد  نزار بنات خارج نطاق القضاء ، وهوحادث مأساوي يشير بشكل سافر  قمع السلطة الفلسطينية و مستوى تنسيق قواتها الأمنية مع نظام الفصل العنصري الاستعماري.

 

وكوننا  ائتلافًا وطنياَ واسعا من فلسطينيين مقيمين  في الولايات المتحدة ، من مدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان و نقابيين و مهنيين قانونيين ، فإننا نسجل تضامننا اللا مشروط  مع  أسرة وأبناء الشهيد نزار بنات و نضم صوتنا لأصوات شرفاء شعبنا بالمطالبه بتحقيق العدالة  وإنهاءسياسة التعدي على الحريات وتوسيع الاعتقال السياسي وقمع الحريات والتغول الامني  للسلطة الفلسطينية.

 

نزار بنات كان أبًا ونجارًا ومدافعًا شرساَ عن تحرير كل  الفلسطينيين. تظل مطالبه بالمساءلة والشفافية وإنهاء التعاون مع القوى المستعمرة نبراساً لسعينا الجماعي من أجل تحقيق العدالة. على الرغم من المخاطر الهائلة التي تتعرض لها عائلته

بعد عامين من قيام أجهزة الأمن الفلسطيني وتسمياتها المختلفه من مخابرات وأمن وقائي بتبادل الأدوار   وحققت ما أرادته بعد تهديدات متعدده بإنهاء حياة نزار بنات بوحشية حاقدة وجبانة تحت قيادة وإشراف رموز ذوي مواقع قرار في السلطة الفلسطينية ، ظل الجناة بلا عقاب. إن حماية السلطة الفلسطينية المستمرة للمسؤولين تعزز ثقافة الإفلات من العقاب المقلقة التي لا يمكن أن تصمد.

بناء عليه وتكريما لذكرى الشهيد  نزار بنات وسعياً لتحقيق رؤيته لفلسطين حرة ، يطالب تحالفنا بما يلي:

• أن تضمن السلطة الفلسطينية على الفور محاكمة عادلة وعلنية ، يشرف عليها قضاء محايد ، لجميع الأفراد الذين شاركوا بشكل مباشر في الاعتداء العنيف وقتل نزار بنات أو أجازوا ذلك.
• يجب أن تتم المحاكمة على نحو يدعم مبادئ الشفافية والاستقلالية والحقوق القانونية الأساسية.
• إنهاء الضغط الدولي على السلطة الفلسطينية ، بما فيها أجهزة  الأمن المختلفة والمتفرعه،  لتنسيق مع دولة الإحتلال العنصري  حيث يجب الإشارة هنا  بأن إسرائيل ، بصفتها القوة المحتلة ، والحاكم الفعلي لفلسطين ، تجبر السلطة الفلسطينية ، ووكالاتها ، على التصرف كقوة احتلال عميلة  لإدامة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان ضد الفلسطينيين.
• الجدولة الفورية لانتخابات حرة ونزيهة وشاملة لجميع الفلسطينيين المجلس الوطني و المركزي وجميع الهياكل التنظيميه التي تكفل المشاركة الواسعة لشعبنا الفلسطيني بكافة شرائحه وقطاعاته وأماكن تجمعاته المختلفه
• اشتراط التمويل الدولي  للسلطة الفلسطينية وجهاز الأمن الوقائي بالامتثال لمعايير القانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان للعدالة والشفافية وحماية الفلسطينيين وحقوقهم – بما في ذلك اعتقال ومحاكمة جميع الأفراد المتورطين والمتواطئين  في مقتل نزار بنات؛ والإستمرار بدعم التحرك العالمي المتصاعد  ضد إسرائيل بسبب استمرار المستوطنات غير القانونية ومصادرة الأراضي وجرائم الحرب وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان ضد الفلسطينيين.

 

ندعو المنظمات والأفراد في جميع أنحاء العالم للانضمام إلينا في هذا السعي لتحقيق العدالة.نحن ندرك تماماً اننا بخسارتنا لنزار خسرنا قامة من قامات شعبنا ورمزاً ناصعاً من رموز حركتنا التحرريه وكما قالت والدة أثناء جنازته التي شيعها شعبنا بدموعه وبكل أماكن تجمعاتهم قالت والدة نزار ” إن قتلوا اليوم نزار فسيكون هناك ألف نزار ”  وإن أنهت قوى الطغيان والظلم حياة نزار  بشكل مأساوي ، لكن روحه والمبادئ التي دافع عنها ما زالت تلهم  الملايين للكفاح من أجل فلسطين حرة.
