FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The People’s Organization For Progress (POP) believes the current pause in Israel’s war on Gaza does not go far enough and demands the Biden administration immediately work towards a permanent ceasefire.

“We believe the current pause in the fighting is a positive development in that it has brought about the release of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinians held by Israel,” Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress stated.

“However, it is not enough because Israel’s government has said it will resume its attacks on Gaza once the pause has ended,” Hamm said.

“Israel’s genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza must end. The People’s Organization For Progress calls for a permanent ceasefire now and an uninterrupted, unrestricted flow of all humanitarian aid needed for the Palestinian people in Gaza,” he said.

Hamm is also a U.S. Senate Candidate who plans to run next year in the New Jersey Democratic primary.

“People are marching and protesting across the U.S., around the world and even in Israel for a ceasefire,” he said.

“The governments of France and other countries have called for a ceasefire. Some have recalled their ambassadors from Israel and several have cut diplomatic ties in protest of war crimes against Palestinians,” he said.

“Polls show a vast majority of Americans want a ceasefire. President Biden and his administration should heed the call for a ceasefire. Failure to do so could have dire consequences,” Hamm stated.

“The war is spreading to the West Bank and beyond. Israel is bombing Lebanon and Syria. It could become a regional conflict and lead to world war,” he said.

“We call upon all members of Congress and especially New Jersey’s congressional delegation to support, co-sponsor and vote for HR 786 which calls for immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in the war,” he said.

“Furthermore we oppose any more military aid to Israel as long as it continues this genocidal attack upon Gaza, violates the human rights of the Palestinians and commits war crimes against them,” he said.

“Finally, we call upon the Biden administration to pursue peace through a just solution to the conflict which includes ending occupation, annexation, dispossession, and apartheid,” Hamm said.

“It must also include recognition of Palestinian equality, human rights, self-determination, and the establishment of a viable Palestinian state,” he said.
