THE CENTER DOES NOT HOLD 2.0

Almost exactly a century ago, in 1922, the Irish poet W.B. Yeats watched a post world war one society plunged in despair and inhumanity everywhere and wrote a prescient poem called “The Second Coming” of which I quote chilling words applicable to the axis of evil – Israel, the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan and their western European accomplices – committing all out genocide to prevent a free Palestine:

things fall apart; the center cannot hold
near anarchy is loosed upon the world (…)
the best lack all conviction
while the worst are full of passionate intensity (…)

For the hundreds of thousands who will have the passionate conviction to march today in Washington D.C. for an immediate unconditional ceasefire, the release of all Palestinian prisoners and a Free Palestine.

i leave a few wordprints
on the street

for Palestine
will be whispered in your ear
in real time

those who could not travel
will become
the wind in your sails

do you feel
the crowd of conjured ancestors
thronging?

do you know
today
the whole wide world
will be watching
all of y’all
holding strong
in the darkening place
where
the imperial center
cannot hold?

the fossil fuel craving

and genocidal state

after so many imperial mass destructive wars
no wonder
the U.S. of A offers
the largest concentration of
domestic serial killers
in the world

but this serial killing government
will be caught
charged and convicted
over Palestine
