On Sunday, February 18, 2024, people gathered and marched through the city of Hamtramck, a municipal enclave surrounded by Detroit, in solidarity with the struggle in Palestine and the people of Yemen.

Since the beginning of the siege upon Gaza on October 7, over 28,000 Palestinians have been killed due to the IDF bombardment, shelling and denial of medical treatment, food and water.

People in Hamtramck have repeatedly held demonstrations to oppose the genocide in Gaza and the failure of the United States government to call for a ceasefire.

Yemen has been targeted as a result of their solidarity efforts with Gaza. Several bombing operations by the Pentagon and the British Royal Air Force have resulted in the deaths of people in Yemen.

Organizers for the Abandon Biden Campaign were present encouraging people to vote “uncommitted” in the Michigan primary in light of the facilitation of genocide by the White House.

The Hamtramck City Council renamed a section of Holbrook Street as “Palestine Avenue” to express its indignation with the official U.S. policy which has been responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands and the expansion of the war in Palestine to other regional states.
