Moratorium NOW! Coalition Demands “Medicare for All” at Detroit Labor Day

On Mon. Sept. 7, 2026 at the annual Labor Day Parade the Moratorium NOW! Coalition, Michigan Coalition Against Genocide and Labor for Palestine joined forces along Michigan avenue to campaign for Medicare for All and an End to the Genocide in Palestine.

Thousands of cards were distributed to promote a public meeting on Saturday. September 19 to demand Medicare for All at the St. Matthews-St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church from 1:00-3:00 PM.

The church is located at 8850 Woodward Avenue, Detroit at Holbrook.

The Labor Day parade is a long tradition in Detroit. Thousands of members of labor unions gathered along Michigan Avenue between Trumbull and Roosevelt Park.

Numerous unions were present including the UAW, AFSCME, DFT, AFT, MEA, Teamsters, IBEW, ATU and many others.

Conditions for working people are worsening every day in the United States due to inflation, rising costs for healthcare and the impact of imperialist wars in Palestine, Iran, Yemen, Ukraine, Cuba, Venezuela and other geopolitical regions around the world.
