On Tuesday, November 7, 2023 dozens of activists demonstrated outside the offices of freshman U.S Congressman Shri Thanedar who has refused to call for a ceasefire in the genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza.

Prior to the vigil, Thanedar issued a statement saying he supported a “humanitarian pause” to the bombing and ground incursion by the IDF which is the same empty rhetoric being advanced by President Joe Biden.

The war is fueled by the massive supply of U.S. weapons, military advisors, funding, diplomatic and media support.

Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) among other organizations in the Palestinian American community called out the majority of politicians in the U.S. who give unconditional support to the State of Israel as more than ten thousand Palestinian people have been massacred in Gaza along with in excess of one million being displaced.

This vigil is part and parcel of the many demonstrations being held in the U.S. and around the world since the beginning of the latest outbreak of fighting over one month ago.

Two staff members from Thanedar’s office came outside to listen to the complaints from the people he is supposed to be representing in the 13th Congressional District. The staff members said the Congressman was in Washington, D.C.
