On Monday, May 6, 2024, students and community members gathered outside the Purdy-Kresge Library on the campus of Wayne State University.

The rally and later march were aimed at bringing attention to the role of the current administration of President Joe Biden for the continued weapons transfers to the State of Israel.

Approximately 34, 000 Palestinians have been killed, tens of thousands more are wounded along with the displacement of 2.3 million people now living in the Gaza Strip.

When the march reached Woodward and Warren in route to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History where Vice President Kamala Harris delivered an address praising the economic policies of the current administration, protesters were stopped by dozens of police officers denying them the right to walk on a public sidewalk.

Harris announced the delivery of over $100 million in subsidies to the automotive industry.

However, the Palestine solidarity activists denounced the Biden White House for its refusal to end all military and diplomatic support to Tel Aviv. The Biden administration is also responsible for the nationwide crackdown on Gaza solidarity and anti-genocide protest actions at university and college campuses around the United States where more than 2,000 people have been arrested.
