On Monday, January 20 US President Donald Trump issued an executive order freezing all foreign aid programs. This was one of a flurry of orders in his first day in office following his (second) inauguration. The order allows for a 90-day review of aid projects, with the exception of military aid to the zionist settler state and Egypt.
The order was followed by a memo from Secretary of State Marco Rubio that “goes further, directing agency heads to stop dispersing aid even to programs already approved by the US government.” One official at the State Department was reported to have remarked that “State just totally went nuclear on foreign assistance.”
However, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on January 22 “that US military assistance to Ukraine has not been suspended as part of a 90-day hold on foreign aid” indicating that the freeze applied to non-military assistance. .
It remains to be seen how long this order might affect Ukraine’s fighting ability or if it will be lifted in the near future. The US brought on the Ukraine war with Russia starting in 2014 with the CIA organized overthrow of the elected Ukrainian government. US strategy, supported by NATO, was to build up the Ukrainian military and draw in Russia who, it was known, would not allow NATO military bases along its lengthy border with Ukraine. This plan worked when Russia intervened with its Special Military Operation in February 2022.
But after three years of heavy fighting by their proxy, the western puppet masters are realizing that Ukraine is losing the war, and its military is in danger of collapsing across the board. Trump and his faction have been talking about abandoning Ukraine in order to focus US military and economic weapons against socialist China.
One NATO member in the area, Romania, has been expanding a large NATO military base on its territory. According to Calin Georgescu, independent candidate in Romania’s presidential election, the expansion of the NATO MK Air Base in his country “could be used to trigger a war with Russia.” NATO is aiming to make MK Air Base its “largest base in Europe.”
Georgescu came in as the frontrunner of Romania’s presidential elections in November with 22.9% of the vote – ahead of all other candidates. He ran on an anti-NATO platform. Before the run-off second round of the election, Romania’s highest court “annulled” the election. Street protests broke out in the country calling the court’s action part of a coup d’etat.
In an effort to shore up Ukraine’s faltering position, the UK signed a 100-year defense agreement with the proxy Zelensky regime, a government press release by the United Kingdom announced on January 16. Called the 100 Year Partnership it is meant to “bolster military collaboration.” The “announcement builds on the …7.8 billion pounds of military assistance, a commitment for 3 billion pounds in military aid until as long as it takes.” .
Zelensky, meanwhile, is publicly campaigning for a minimum of 200,000 NATO troops to keep him in power as his military situation falters. “Europe must establish itself as a strong, global player, as an indispensable player,” he told the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21.
